Book Review for Where Has Oprah Taken Us by Stephen Mansfield
I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com http://booksneeze®.com/ book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255 http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_03/16cfr255_03.html : “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”
Although one of the most influential leaders of our time started out Baptist, she has allowed the early views, self- satisfying and liberal ideas seep into her now soup type of religion... throwing a little of this and a little of that into her life and calling it good.
I did enjoy this book, but you may not if you are an Oprah fan. I appreciate Oprah's religious beliefs being exposed. The book clarified my argument against Oprah's teachings of many gods leading to heaven.... and she had such a miss opportunity to be one of the world's greatest disciples.
Mansfield writes: "And so we have examined four pillars of Oprah Winfrey's religious worldview and seven principles of her philosophy and I have disagreed with all of them. I can do no other. I am, as I admitted in the introduction to this book, a Christian, and what Oprah Winfrey believes cuts across every major doctrine of the Christian faith. In fact, it cuts across nearly every major doctrine of nearly every major traditional faith except Hinduism and a few other Eastern religions. Beyond my own perspectives, though, what she believes is illogical, inconsistent, arrogant, destructive, and amazingly naive."
Although Oprah has a very liberal view of who and what God is, she has done so much good for others. I am saddened that the glory was not given to the One whom it was due.
